Join the Coro Infrastructure Group for Affordable Housing 101, where we’ll walk through case studies of affordable projects from square one. Leading us are Coro alums Nicole Clare (LNY20), Director of Housing Development, Settlement Housing Fund for the non-profit perspective and Adam Hellegers (LNY17), Attorney, L&M Development for the for-profit perspective.

You’ll find out:

  • How much does it cost? Understanding development and construction expenses
  • Who will the building serve? Developing the building program (unit size, eligibility requirements, amenities, and services)
  • How to finance a project? Outlining options based on anticipated costs, building income, and available subsidies
  • How do ongoing operations work? Explaining the tenant eligibility and selection process, building management, and ongoing oversight requirements

Nicole Clare, Director of Housing Development at Settlement Housing Fund has primary responsibility for all housing development projects, including new construction and rehabilitation, and oversees asset management.  Previously, Nicole was a Community Development Project Manager at Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation, where she was directly responsible for the development of affordable housing units.

Adam Hellegers is Associate General Counsel, General Counsel of the New York Affordable Housing Preservation Fund and a co-director of the Preservation development group at L&M Development Partners Inc.  Previously, Adam was an attorney at Michael Levitt & Rubenstein LLC, the New York City Housing Development Corporation and Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP.
